ST. WILLIAM YOUTH GROUP

Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry is the means by which the Church supports High School teens in becoming integral members of the parish, as well as the Vicariate, Archdiocese and local community.

Youth Ministry Goals
  • to engage teens in outreach, catechesis, liturgy, leadership, and foster a deeper relationship with God and the Church.
  • to uphold the mission of Youth Ministry of “to, with, by, and for teens.”
  • to build a sense of community among high school members of St. William Parish that promotes belonging and acceptance.

Upcoming Youth Ministry Activities
  • Monthly Youth Masses – October through April
  • Genesys Lock- In – Overnight event with teens from Vicariate parishes
  • Bowling & Pizza – An evening of bowling fun with friends.
  • Winter Blah Breaker – Bingo and Spaghetti Dinner with Senior Citizens
  • Children’s Village Christmas – Outreach to the teens in Cottage G
  • Rainbow XXVIII – Archdiocesan Conference for High School Teens
  • Shelter Week Dinner – Provide dinner for families living in the South Oakland County Shelter who are our guests for a week at the parish.
  • Summer Softball – Vicariate wide summer fun league!
  • Graduate Mass & Breakfast – A formal good-bye to the High School Seniors of the Parish.
  • Cedar Point- Roller Coaster Extravaganza!!!
  • Caritas Mission Work Camp – Week long Appalachia mission trip for High School students.
Fundraisers

Paper Recycling – year round – retrieval container in the main parking lot.
Proceeds go to Caritas Mission Work Camp

Fish Fry Bake Sale – held during Lenten Fish Fry.
Proceeds to go Caritas Mission Work Camp

Spring Flower Sale
Proceeds to go to Youth Ministry General Fund

Youth Ministry relies on parental involvement at events. Each event needs one adult chaperone per eight teens. To ensure the safety of the teens, the Archdiocese of Detroit has mandated all chaperones to complete Protecting God’s Children - safe environment program – and submit to a criminal background check.
