Why do a Bible Study?

 

Bible study involves reading, interpreting, and applying the Bible in your life, with a focus on deepening faith and understanding Catholic teachings. It's a way to learn about the Bible, strengthen your relationship with God, and build community. 


While there may be some slight variations, depending on the study, participants will do preparation in advance usually consisting of reading and workbook assignments, there will be group and/or table discussions and video presentations.


Studying the Bible provides us with a firm foundation in God's truth; it can deepen our prayer life and enable the development of relationships with fellow attendees.

The following is the list of the Bible studies scheduled to start in September.  Contact the study lead through Flocknotes for information, class capacity and to sign-up.

Most of our studies are through Ascension Press  https://ascensionpress.com but other sources can be chosen. Because of ongoing anti-Catholic rhetoric, it is advised to use Catholic studies to make sure scripture is not taken out of context.  The Ascension Press studies include a 30-minute video along with the workbook, your bible and Catechism of the Catholic Church.

CREDO Foundations of Faith

Study Leader: Deacon Mike

Beginning: September 11th (through November 15th) - Sunday afternoons from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, Disciples room

This study is a requirement for OCIA and is open to all that wish to learn more about the Catholic faith. This series covers Faith & Doctrine, Sacramental Life & Practice, Christian Moral Life and the Pillars of Catholic Living.

 

The Bible Study: Bible Timeline

Study leaders: Ted Monfette

Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the Disciples room

If you are interested in a bible study and don’t know where to start, this is the best starting point. You will receive the framework to better understand the rest of the studies. Study Program takes you on a guided journey through salvation history. Presenter Jeff Cavins shows you how fourteen of the Bible’s narrative books tell the biblical story from beginning to end and gives you the keys to understanding the amazing story woven through Scripture.

 

The Case for Jesus (Virtual Small Faith Group)

Study leaders: Greg and Leslie Carnacchi 

Beginning: September 8th - 2nd & 4th Tuesdays at 6:30PM-8:00PM

Videos on Formed - Dr. Brant Pitre uses biblical and historical evidence to bolster the "case for Jesus" by exposing the problems with the many false theories that have been introduced over the past hundred years, resulting in widespread skepticism about the reliability of Christian Faith. He tackles head-on questions like: Were the four Gospels written anonymously? Did Jesus claim to be God? Did Jesus fulfill the Jewish prophecies of the Messiah? and many more.

 

The Bible Study: Foundations of Faith: A Journey Through the Catechism of the Catholic Church (20 Sessions)

Study leaders: Joanne and Dan Jones

Beginning September 16th - Wednesday evenings 6:30pm to 8:30pm, Disciples room

You’re invited to a revolutionary, specially designed video-based program that will bring our faith to life in a profound way. This new powerful study takes us around the world to the places where our faith was explained and clarified by councils, church doctors, and saints. 

Whether you are new to the faith, or to the Catechism, or seeking a deeper dive into the truth and beauty of scripture and sacred tradition, this powerful study will transform the way you understand and live the Catholic faith.

 

The Bible Study: Fulfilled: Uncovering the Biblical Foundations of Catholicism. 

Study leaders: Greg and Leslie Carnacchi 

Beginning September 10th - Thursday mornings from 9:30am to 12:00pm in the Disciples room

Explores how the Old Testament reveals the foundations of the Catholic Faith. Through an apologetic approach, explains the Catholic Faith throughout Scripture providing you the ability to grow in your love for Scripture and confidence in sharing the Catholic Faith. 

Fulfilled Part One (7 sessions) - Called into His Presence, focuses on elements of the Tabernacle’s outer sanctuary and their connection to the liturgical calendar, the priesthood, purgatory, baptism, and more.

Fulfilled Part Two (7 sessions) - Drawn into the Divine Mystery, focuses on elements of the Tabernacle’s inner sanctuary and their connection to the Magisterium, the Eucharist, incense, Mary, and more. This study will go into early January 2027. 

Lenten study (TBD) February 2027 follows Fulfilled.

Season 6 of The Chosen, follows the Lenten study and goes through May. 

 

The Bible Study: Biblical Walk through the Mass (5 sessions)

Study leader: Sue Kozora

Beginning: October 8th - Thursday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, Disciples room

Explores the biblical roots of the Liturgy and reveals what the Mass means and why it matters.

In the Liturgy of the Word, we hear God speak through Scripture, and in the Liturgy of the Eucharist, we encounter Christ himself. This study unpacks the meaning behind the words and rituals of the Mass, showing how the Liturgy is rooted in Scripture.
